How We Clean Your Dishwasher

Found in:Kitchen

Dishwashers, while designed for cleaning, accumulate food debris and hard water deposits in specific areas that regular cycles don't address. The rubber door seal traps food particles and fosters mold growth, while the removable filter at the bottom collects larger food scraps, leading to odors and reduced cleaning efficiency if neglected.

What we don't do

  • We do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh scrubbing pads on stainless steel or plastic dishwasher exteriors, as these can cause permanent scratches or dull the finish. For the door seal, we avoid bleach-based products that can degrade the rubber over time, leading to cracks and leaks. We also do not use any tools that could puncture or tear the delicate filter mesh.

Why we do it this way

Wiping the exterior with a damp cloth only spreads fingerprints and smudges. For the door seal, simply wiping doesn't remove embedded mold or sticky food residue; it requires targeted cleaning agents and mechanical action to dislodge and sanitize. Similarly, the filter needs to be physically removed and rinsed to clear trapped debris, as water jets alone cannot dislodge compacted food.
