How We Clean Your Countertops

Your countertops are the workhorse of your kitchen, but their durability varies greatly by material. Using the wrong cleaner can permanently etch stone, dull laminate, or strip the finish from wood, making them harder to clean and less hygienic over time. The challenge isn't just removing spills; it's preserving the integrity of the surface itself.

What we don't do

  • We never use acidic cleaners like vinegar or lemon juice on natural stone countertops (granite, marble, quartz) because they cause irreversible etching. We also avoid abrasive scrubbers or harsh scouring powders on any countertop material, as these can scratch delicate surfaces like laminate or compromise the sealant on stone. For butcher block, we never use excessive water or let it soak, which can lead to warping and mildew.

Why we do it this way

We don't use a single all-purpose spray because different countertop materials react uniquely to cleaning agents. Acidic cleaners, for example, dissolve the minerals in granite and marble, leaving behind dull, rough spots that can't be repaired. Conversely, strong alkaline cleaners can break down the sealants on natural stone. Our approach is to match the cleaning chemistry to your specific countertop material, ensuring effective cleaning without damage.
